Learning How to Skate

The out door rink by our house opened earlier this week and daddy is happy cause this means that we can start teaching William how to skate and the to play hockey. William enjoyed himself and had lots of fun. He was pretty tired by the time we got home. Went to get some coloring books for him that were given to us. He did fall asleep. When we got home his hands and feet were so cold he was crying we put him into a warm bath and then he was fine. He was in bed by about 7:30 and slept till just before 12 and then passed back out and woke up at before 7 this morning . Makes for a very tired mommy. He is getting tired to now so will be another early bed time tonight to. that's all for now I will have some pictures up for Monday's post as there is a Christmas party for his play group and as long as the snow holds off and the school buses are canceled then we are going.

Big Boy's sleep in their own bed

This is what I tell William each night as I give him a hug and a kiss good night and tuck him into bed with his two favorite stuffed doggy's. We started this three nights ago now and he is doing so well. It has been hard as we put him into bed tell him good night and then leave he did nothing but cry and scream the first three nights. Each time he woke up during the night we would go to the gate at his door and tell him it was OK and that we were here when he needed us, Well then he would start crying ad screaming we would let him cry it out. It was hard for the first bit but we stood our ground and didn't give into.
And tonight I did the usually routine , took him up stairs took him pee and changed his bum, took him into say night night to daddy. Brought him into his room asked for a hug and kiss and then another he whimpered a little I told him it was OK that he was a big boy and that the doggies  were waiting to snuggle with him and keep him safe and warm laid him down to bed blew him a kiss good and he blew one back. then turned his head hugged his doggies and went to sleep without crying. I am so proud of my little boy. He is growing up before my eyes.
So far he hasn't stirred and I am sure he will do great sleeping tonight last night Jp said he only woke a few times if that he changed his bum once and he said the last time he stirred was 3:30 and then I had him up at 6 or just after.

Potty Training

He has been doing well with his training no pees even in his pull up other then one poop in last three or four days. Jp changed him last night and from the time he changed him till when I got him up this morning he didn't pee once. We will keep going with both the sleeping and the potty training and also I am working getting him eating better. I will be trying this week to get him eating more fruits and vegetables.

alright that's it for now I will update again soon

Santa
we took William to meet Santa the other night he did really well. He kept trying to poke at his beard. it was funny there was another family leaving as we were sitting down and the guy kept tell William to pull Santa's beard and Santa laughed at him I thought he was going to but he didn't. William then got mad cause he didn't want to leave lol.

Visit with Worker Williams new Friend Jody

So we had a good visit with Jody Williams work on Thursday. She was very pleased with what I have been teaching him and J.p as well. I have tought him two new signing words which are eat and drink and by Thursday he was signing more eat and more drink together. It makes it so much easier now for him to tell us what he wants. I am now teaching him how to do the sign for bathroom. We played a little at the meeting and were trying to get William to stack colors together. He is doing better with staying at one activity for longer periods of time then he was . We won't have another meet with Jody until I believe the 14 of December this way Jp can be there as well. And we get to sleep in, I have news on his sleeping but will post about that next. That's all for this post more to come.

Williams Appointment

So Williams appointment went well we don't have to change to much in his diet. We do have to try and get him to eat more vegetables and fruits. He eats vegetables OK but he won't even look at fruits. So I have to start playing around with stuff for him. He is at a healthy weight and height for his age. so no need to worry there. Also we will be cutting back on his milk a little as he is getting to much of that and trying to get him to drink water instead. Or I should say as well. it will take him some getting used to but I think with time he will be OK.  so that's all I have to say for now I will update again Thursday as we meet with his worker again and have some good things to be showing her.

Potty Training

so we are back onto the potty training. we need to stick with it. H does so good. Sunday we had two accidents in his under wear.I have been taking him ever hour to hour and a half. Which seems to be working well. I also started a sticker reward system for every time he goes on the potty. I have a big poster board with several things on it to earn stickers for but I will talk about that in another post. I think I am going to be working on teaching William how to sign the word bathroom. I have done this with eat and drink and every time he asks more I ask him if he wants to eat or if he wants to drink. and he copy's me. Which is a good thing. This makes it so much more easier to know what it is that he wants

How to make Play Dough by a 2 and half year old!

Billy and I decided today to play with play dough, once we got started I got the idea to try and make some that was none toxic. The video above I found on you tube and was fairly easy to make next time I make some I will make a video showing how we made it. This is some thing that you can let your child help to make. Like in the video the women aloud her child to make the most of it except the cooking part.

will add our video soon

the other one is simple although I think next time I make the none cooked one I will add maybe a little more water to it to get it to go the way I like it to. I have recorded some videos of what they both look like and will post them here.

1/2 cup of salt
1/2 cup of water

Infant Develpment Worker

So well we are waiting for our assessment of Billy to see why it is that he is not talking yet at almost three years old. We have what they call an infant development worker come into our home every two weeks, and work with us one on one. They give ideas to work on with Billy to teach him and will eventually help him to speak. We had three things that we need to work on in the last three weeks (as our worker went on holidays for two weeks,.)

1) teach Billy how to jump. ( he would just do the motion but not do the actual jumping part of letting his feet come off of the floor)

2) Getting Billy to go to sleep in his own bed on his own at night when it's bed time ( we co slept since he was a new born)

3) Teach him how to play with play do and roll lines and such ( this we have yet to do but will be starting this week.

So our first home work assignment was to teach Billy how to jump. as mention up above he would crouch down and then stand up like he was going to jump but wouldn't leave the ground for the longest time. So what I did was I showed him how to do it, like I taught him how to drink from his bottle and then a sippy cup extra. I would say OK Billy watch mommy. and then I would jump and then he would try it took him a couple of days but he did it. And boy was he so proud of him self. The video above you will see me teaching Billy how to jump. When I can I will record or take pictures of the new things he learns.

Our second thing was to get Billy to go to sleep in his own bed. Which we have been working on. We started off with mommy sitting in the chair beside his bed  and holding his hand. some nights it would take for ever for Billy to fall asleep. I could be in his room for any where up to an hour I saw my self in there some nights for an hour and a half. So this week. We started Billy ling down to sleep without mommy in the room. The first night he screamed and cried for half an hour I did not go into the room until after he had gone to sleep. I made sure he had is stuffed dog he sleeps with and and then back out I go. each night it has been about a half hour last night though because we had a long day out in the fresh air with his appointment that he was out in 15 minutes maybe 20 put his own blanket on and every thing. So we will continue this and hope that he goes down without any crying at all.
He still isn't sleeping threw the night but that will come in time I hope. I think this week we will start working with the play do. Alright that's it for this post I will be back with more soon.

About this Blog

Hi there this blog will be something a little different from  your weight loss blogs that you see. Or what ever else people blog about. This blog will be about our 2.5 year old little boy who is having a hard time talking. We have been going back and forth with with O.C.T.C ( Ontario Children's Treatment Center) To help us to see what is going on and whether it may be Autism or not or just a speech delay. What I am going to do here is talk about what we are doing to teach Billy how to talk. And what we as parents are learning is going on with him inside and why he has yet to really talk.
So join us on this journey of learning and helping our son to speak and here his voice for the first time.
This is going to be a long road ahead but hope fully will have a great ending to the story.
